some highlights from my long and illustrious writing / interviewing / fan-level-editing career
BBC, 2019 – Line of Duty Bent Coppers song
One of the funnest things I ever got the chance to make, and as such the piece that I never stop going on about. The song, that I scripted, edited, mixed, etc. helped win two Lovie Awards, was used as the official BBC podcast intro song, and got picked up online and on actual real-life TV, like Lorraine. I’d like to thank all the bent coppers out there for the inspiration.
Comedy Central, 2016 – Brexit: A Titanic Disaster
Another dream piece of content, even if it was kicked off by a bit of a nightmare. Commissioned by Cat Collins, I acted as “creative lead” which basically involved listening to the rest of the team’s amazing ideas (shoutout the extremely funny and mega talented Amy Everett, Cal King, and Scott Limbrick) and cherry-picking my favourites (though I am happy to have come up with the Boris Johnson “I have a child” moment), instructing our ace editor Jack Hextall to make the impossible possible, and then giving an interview to the Guardian when the video inevitably went viral – though they did leave out all my co-creators, which sucks to this day.
(update) I just found out that both the video and my name are now in an Edinburgh University Press-published book, so I expect the honorary degree will be in the post ASAP.
