some highlights from my copywriting / reactive / pop culture / community management / general day-to-day social media marketing career…
the below is an array of content I’m proud of (either conceptually, creatively, or performance outcome-ly) / reflects my general sensibilities of what I believe makes good content / shows what i can actually make with my own bastard hands.
added context where appropriate.
2020-2022: NETFLIX UK
all pieces made while i acted as co-lead of the netflix uk instagram retainer account, managing the team of producers and designers, setting the social strategy, and chatting with the clients alongside my wickedly talented, one and only co-lead, Meg Downing.
remember when everyone was a) making memes about starting specific songs or tv shows to enter the new year of a specific phrase, vibe, moment, and b) obsessed with shrek? what if someone (me) were to combine those two concepts into one unified, certified banger?
a piece i… researched and then helped design – timecodes for all the racier moments of bridgerton season 1 which kicked off as everyone during the 2020 xmas lockdown was a) horny and therefore watching bridgerton and b) stuck with their parents, so it seemed to make sense. this piece was shown and discussed on the graham norton show, though i can’t find the clip. believe me, bro.
2022-2024: CANDY CRUSH SAGA
these pieces come from another co-lead period, this time with the (also) amazing and talented Kimberley McMenamin, and reporting in to the great Jay Jaffa on the King / Candy Crush side, who trusted us completely. thank you both.
before it was taken over by elon and donated to the nazis, “TWITTER” was my favourite social platform – no other platform since has had the raw creative energy / speed of posting to reaction rate that T had. the above was one of my favourite kinds of formats that i’ve done many times over the years, press x and get y, in this case making a new candy crush character bigger and bigger and bigger ad absurdum. great stuff.
not my designs BUT i lead on reactive strategy and figured we should be inserting ourselves into major pop culture moments as C(andy) C(rush) S(aga) is one of the biggest second-screen apps in the world. we weren’t able LEGALLY to use any non-CCS assets, so (one of the best designers in the world) Benjamin Walker had to get real creative with the official assets we could lay our hands on. some more posters he / we made include the mandalorian (candylorian?), and the addams family.
